We arrived in Vienna at 12:35pm local time which was 6:35am in RI. It didn’t seem like a big deal until our bodies realized they slept about 2 hours on the two plane rides. Our fantastic hosts drove us home from the airport and exhaustion struck. We knew sleep had to happen, but didn’t want to sleep for ten hours. Andrée set the alarms for a two hour nap and we woke up just in time for dinner.
After dinner we set off on a vineyard tour of the countryside. We drove down a single lane cobbled road that went straight up a hillside lined with local vineyards. People had wine cellars cut into the hillside. We hope to get back to the road to explore by bike.
At the top of the hill, we arrived at the Magdalenhof winery and took a quiet dirt road to the top of a hill. The hillside overlooked the entire city of Vienna and it was right at sunset. It was a beautiful sight to behold.
The day ended at 10pm, which means our bodies went to sleep at 4pm in Rhode Island. The girls were beat, but it was a fun day.
