Jay is currently driving us home from Königssee Germany so I am a guest writer today. Hello all, it’s Andrée.
We drove through many mountain passes, through dense trees, and lo and behold we arrived in tourist mecca! Tour busses, cars, ice cream, beer, and the most stunning body of water. We hopped aboard our cozy, 92 passenger, electric boat and toured the beautiful area.

This water is 190 meters deep and is fed from melting ice and snow.. The waterfalls were magnificent.
The water was so inviting. We couldn’t wait to dip our toes in. After the hourlong boat ride we hiked 1.5 miles in the 95 degree heat before turning back to the relative comfort of the boat.

The return trip took us back to the original dock. Before leaving, the girls and I jumped into the lake. It was freezing!

Alison took a couple extra photos
When we returned to the parking lot we saw Adolf Hitler’s Eagle’s Nest retreat atop a mountain. We didn’t make the trek via hike or bus – it had been turned into a restaurant of sorts. On the drive home, we made good use of Google Maps as there was an accident causing a one hour slowdown. We took a million turns over the course of our 7km detour and miraculously ended up back on the highway! Gelato awaited us when we returned home. Can’t thank our hosts enough for everything they’ve done for us this trip!
